Albert Camus Book Covers

These book covers are a nod to my love for literature and how contemporary classics don’t have to look like dusty tomes.

About

These book covers are a nod to my love for literature, minimalism, and abstract art. My goal with these book covers is to blend the excitement that's commonly found in a mystery/thriller novel and apply it to classics that people would otherwise avoid.

Challenges

The challenge with many book covers is not being too on the nose, but for something as nebulous and philosophical like Camus' books, being on the nose but with the intent on leaving enough mystery and intrigue would serve to make the book engaging and interesting to a passerby.

Solution

The solution then led to the use of bright colors, yet simplistic illustrations to catch the viewers attention. The benefit to this is that people who know Camus could maybe be convinced, even for a second, that it won't be a dry read because of its engaging cover. For people who have read the books, they can serve as very attractive ornamental pieces for their bookshelves or coffee tables.
