Instructional Video: SCC/SET Helper Client Video

This project was a request from the Vanier Colleges SCC/SET Cont. Ed Department. They wanted to film two instructional videos that their participants could use to help them with specific scenarious relevant to their program.

Objective

This project was split between another student and I where our job was to work with two of the programs instructors to understand their vision for the video. Once we set a date to film with the instructors and students, shoot the video, and then work with the instructors to edit parts of the video.

Process

The filming process went relatively smoothly once we found students available to film the scenes. Most of the work took place with editing when we'd have to work side by side with the instructors. We'd review the video together and compile a list of what would be the wrong and right actions within the video. Afterwards, my partner and I would create motion graphics for red and green flags and display them at the right times.

Challenges

This biggest challenge throughout the editing process was making sure each red and green flag appeared at the appropriate time and carefully displaying enough information without making the motion graphics have too much text.

Outcome

The videos came out wonderful. The blend of great sound quality, color correction, and simple motion graphics made for a visually engaging and educational video.
